What is #UnstoppableCourse?
As many of my Twitter followers are noticing, I’m using a new-to-me hashtag - #UnstoppableCourse. So what does this mean? What is the Unstoppable Course?
As many of you know, I work in both teaching assistant and curriculum development roles with the Software Guild, which is owned by The Learning House (TLH). TLH’s CEO - Todd Zipper - created a course for staff to be empowered and feel and believe that they are unstoppable - hence the name. The course is a 12-week program that will bring out my introspective side, as I discover myself more and figure out how to use my self-understanding to reinforce the fact that I am indeed unstoppable in life. I will have assignments that will require blog posts, so feel free to read about my adventures and comment as I go through this journey.
I am currently starting the pre-work that leads up to the program. The course itself starts on January 11th.
I already feel unstoppable. What started that momentum?
In late 2007, I met an awesome guy named Jeff Blankenburg. He was speaking at a user group on the cool things that Microsoft was doing, and I was intrigued. He convinced me to get on Twitter, and he has been extremely instrumental in introducing me to the community and shepherding me in the right direction. In July 2008, Jeff created a post with recommendations of people, and he wrote this about me:
Sarah is, for lack of a better reference, a “diamond in the rough.” When I first met her, she was quiet, reserved, but passionate. Since that time, she has started speaking on technology, started a blog, organized a technology conference, and become a force to be reckoned with in the developer community. It is that internal drive and passion that is creating her momentum. I’m looking forward to see what she has in store for the coming years…
Over the years, Jeff and I have had numerous conversations about what I’m doing and where I’m going. He’s been great at challenging me and getting me out of my shell. In working with Jeff in the community, I’ve found my voice and self-confidence. In the process of doing all of that, I’ve realized that the only roadblock that I have control of is me, and this is why I know that I’m unstoppable, as long as I don’t let myself get in my way.
I already know I’m unstoppable. So why this course?
I’m curious to see what other tricks and exercises that they will use to help us realize that we are unstoppable. I’m looking forward to being even more empowered from this course.
Stay tuned and see what else they do to show that we are unstoppable.
