Thoughts on The Miracle Morning
In this episode, we’re looking at the two new stress management techniques I mentioned in a past blog post, as well as Life S.A.V.E.R.S.™ from The Miracle Morning. Finally, we’re looking at the effects of this course on my life.
Stress Management
Looking back at that post, the two main sources of stress are my health and the impending move. Breathing exercises and music therapy not only help me to reset my lungs but they also give me outlets for calming down and lowering stress levels. As for moving, while it’s been stressing me out, I’ve been working on another change that may be forcing the move timeline up - which honestly is a good thing because setting the goal for next spring leaves a lot of unknowns. Having the motivation to move closer to work so that I don’t have a commute eating into time I’d rather be spending with my family… this is exactly what I need to light the fire under this goal.
Life S.A.V.E.R.S.
We also had to read up on The Miracle Morning and incorporate SAVERS into our lives. These practices allow us to focus on our life and goals in 6 steps in a short period of time every morning. Those steps are:
- S – Silence
- A – Affirmations
- V – Visualization
- E – Exercise
- R – Reading
- S – Scribe
I’ve had a lot of silence this week - more than usual. This has been a lousy week - I’ve felt out of sorts, and a lot of my apprentices and family members have been out of it as well. It got to one point - around Tuesday - when I just couldn’t take it. There’s too much noise - mostly internal noise based on situations around me - and it got to the point where I stopped listening to music on my hour-long commute and instead just took in the silence.
Having this tool has helped me to rethink some of my goals and reprioritize some projects as well.
The Effect of the Unstoppable Course
This course has allowed me to (selfishly) focus on me - something I would normally not spend as much time on. I have been able to write out my goals and figure out where I want to go in life. Having a set point has made it great for me to show others what I’m about as a person - both personally and professionally.
Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist - from our pre-work - has haunted me throughout the cohort. As I’ve written down goals, I’ve found that the universe really has conspired to make it happen, even if I don’t tell the involved parties about those goals. Both of my little ones are working on potty training - older one on night training, younger one on day training. I’m really getting excited about working in the education space and watching those ah-ha moments come together - this has been a great job for me both professionally and personally. My stress levels are fairly low, and my happiness is at a great level.
My goal for moving closer to work so that my husband and I get more time with our family seems a lot closer now, and I have a feeling that some of the tools in this course - as well as the universe conspiring with me - have helped. As I prepare for the upcoming changes in my life, I find that Nozbe has been great for creating projects related to these moves and creating to-do lists to itemize what needs to be accomplished in order to be able to move on. I hadn’t known about Nozbe prior to this course.
I went into this course to learn more about Todd Zipper, the CEO of The Learning House (the parent company of the Software Guild, my primary client) and to learn more about the tools he employs in his quest for success. It’s been a great adventure, and I’m glad that I have learned about the various tools he has used. I was already unstoppable going into this course - now I’ve got more tools in my Unstoppable Toolbelt.
