Final Set Point
As the Unstoppable Course is coming to a close - we’re in week 11 of a 12-week course - we’re reflecting back on the Set Point that we created in the first modules, taking in all of our experiences throughout this course, and coming up with our final set point. This is me, unapologetically.
Define Your Set Point:
Your Stand
My stand revolves around:
- Being true to myself
- Making this a better place for others
- Being about experiences rather than material things
Passion
I am passionate about:
- My family and friends
- The tech community
- Music
- Sociology
- Education
Purpose
Make this world a better place by using my God-given talents to better serve the good of mankind.
Values
- Love and relationships
- Family and community
- Empathy and compassion
- Servant leadership
- Curiosity and adventurousness
- Open-mindedness and enlightenment
- Simplicity and positivity
- Integrity and honesty
- Trust in instinct
Short Term Goals
- Bonus goal: I know, only 10. But… EASTER CHEESE! Recipe identified, ingredients purchased… I will be making Easter cheese for Sunday’s family gathering.
- Say “no” more and refocus priorities towards self and family.
- Take the boys to NASA to see how fun science can be and that we have them here in Cleveland.
- Find a house closer to both my husband’s and my work, as the increased commute means more family time in the car that could be better spent playing in the yard or exploring other adventures.
- Learn how to make sesame balls.
- Try making homemade pasta.
- Learn more about Akron and the things we can do as a family.
- Spend more time at farmers’ markets and possibly plant a garden (depending on when we move).
- Create parent-focused documentation for daycare-parent relations using their Teaching Strategies Gold program. (Both current daycare and our new daycare are using this.)
- Donate as many of our unused toys and books to those who can use them.
- Take the boys to a medieval faire with friends, to experience some of the fun adventures Mom & Dad used to do pre-kids.
Dream Goals
- Be the best wife and partner to my husband - staying ever supportive and always in love.
- Provide the best learning experiences (suited for each boy) to encourage my boys to be well-rounded citizens of the world.
- Take a family trip to Hong Kong for the boys to see where their grandmother grew up and to expose them to some of their heritage.
- Find a dream house in Australia to live part of the year there - again, to expose the boys to family and culture and to spend time with my husband’s family that lives overseas.
- Continue working alongside a great team - not just my fellow TAs and instructors, but also operations managers, enrollment team, and employer network team. In my time here, I’ve met with various team members and to see how close each team is individually and how we all come together to produce successful apprentices and come up with ideas to help the Software Guild grow and thrive… to see that passion, enthusiasm, and excitement across the board… this is a recipe for success.
- Become completely confident in my health,
- Self-publish a few books on tech topics and adventures in tech as a successful woman in tech.
- Write a flashcards framework that I can then use to build apps for my children to learn while using technology.
